Year 8 Elective Selection

In Year 8 you are able to request Elective Subjects. Year 8 students take three (3) electives per semester. Each Elective is taken for two (2) periods per week. Most electives are studied for one semester, however Language and some Music electives go for the full-year. Italian and Japanese are year-long Electives. Class Band (Beginners), Class Band (Intermediate - Advanced) and Rock Band are also year-long electives.

The Western Australian Curriculum requires each student to study a Practical Arts Course, a Visual Arts Course and a Design Technology Course at some stage in Year 8.

  • Performing Arts (Drama, Dance or Music Course)
  • Visual Arts (Media Arts or Visual Arts)
  • Design Technology (Food Creation, Metalwork, Woodwork, Textile Craft, Technical Graphics)

When students are allocating their electives for next year the above will need to be applied. Therefore, where possible factoring in class sizes, rooms and teaching availability, the highest ranked course in each of the above courses will be allocated.

In order to allocate your electives, please rank ALL the electives on the list from 1 (meaning first choice - preferred elective) to 12 (meaning last choice  - least preferred).

^  Electives marked with this symbol (^) may attract an additional cost due to extra resource requirements. The average additional cost in last year for these electives was $60.
