Tribute to the ANZACs

Lumen Christi College was proud to commemorate ANZAC Day with a small service upon our return from school holidays.
In remembrance of those who risked, and gave, their lives in service of our nation we shared a ceremony on Tuesday, 26 April, the day immediately following ANZAC Day.

Over the PA system staff and students were invited to stand to hear the recitation of the fourth stanza of the poem ‘For the Fallen’ which we know as simply ‘The Ode’. This was followed by a minute’s silence, which was itself followed by a rendition of ‘The Last Post’.

The four flags – Australian, Western Australian, Aboriginal and Lumen Christi College – were then lowered to half-mast for the day as a sign of mourning. This was done by four SLT students to the accompaniment of military drum, played brilliantly in the heavy rain by Air Force cadet and Year 10 student Sarah La Vanda.
